Local School Outreach Volunteer Recruitment

Be a voice of hope in the community when you serve our local schools. Crossings Missions team is looking for volunteers to serve our local school partners for the 2024-2025 school year.

Registration begins July 1 and ends September 20.

RECURRING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

THE CLUB

Crossings Community Center // 10255 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Thursdays // September-May

The Club is an ongoing weekly opportunity to engage in Bible lessons, mentoring, life skills, fun, food, and relational support. The Club serves 5th-8th grade students from John Marshall Middle School. Volunteer opportunities include:

• The Club CDL Drivers // 1:30-4:30 p.m. // 4 volunteers needed

- Transport students from John Marshall Middle School and High School to the Crossings Community Center on a scheduled rotation.

• The Club Small Group Leaders // 4:00-5:30 p.m. // 24 volunteers needed

- Lead and mentor a group of middle school students and help them find and follow Jesus as they learn life skills.

• The Club Free Time Fun // 5:30-6:30 p.m. // 20+ volunteers needed

- Lead and support during club free time for a 2- or 4-week session of fun activities with 8-12 students. Activities include sports like basketball, pickleball, volleyball, yoga, soccer; dance; cooking; pickleball; arts/crafts; or, if you have a special talent, let us know! Ideas: origami, card making, photography, graphic design, music/vocals.

• The Club Hospitality Teams // 2:00-4:45 p.m. or 5:30-7:15 p.m.

- First shift (2:00 p.m.): Prepare snacks, greet students, record attendance, and student check-in.

- Second shift (5:30 p.m.): Serve dinner, clean up, and interact with parents at student check-out.

EUGENE FIELD ELEMENTARY

1515 N KLEIN AVE

• Teacher Partner // September - May // Twice Monthly // 32 Volunteers needed

- Partner with a teacher in the classroom by praying and serving. You may help students with work, lead a creative time, or read to small groups. You will coordinate your activity, day, and time with your teacher partner. *You can share this position with a friend!

• Teacher Encouragement Team // August - May // Monthly // 15 volunteers needed

- Meet monthly to assemble and deliver birthday gifts to the school. Plan additional events including Literacy Night, Teacher Appreciation Week, etc.

STANLEY HUPFELD ACADEMY

1508 NW 106TH ST

• Elementary School Mentor // August - May // Weekly // 330 Volunteers needed

- Read with your assigned student for one hour and develop a relationship through reading and other activities!

ONE-TIME SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

COMMUNITY NIGHT

• Crossings Community Center - 10255 N Portland Ave

- Wed, Aug 7 // 5PM

- Volunteer at this yearly, end-of-summer event with free food, games, and prizes that also offers free kids haircuts and school supplies for the community. Sign up to volunteer at crossings.church/community-night.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION

• John Marshall Middle School - 2401 NW 115th Terrace

• John Marshall High School - 12201 Portland Ave

- Various Dates // Adults and Kids Ages 6+

- Bring your friends and family to serve at John Marshall Middle School in beautification projects such as weeding, mulching, trimming, painting and more!

CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION

• Stanley Hupfeld Academy - 1508 NW 106th St

- Oct 24, 25, & 26 // 8AM-12PM // Adults only

- Bring your friends and family to serve at Stanley Hupfeld Academy in beautification projects such as weeding, mulching, trimming, painting and more!
